"I have been an educator for 17 years in both Omaha and the Phoenix area. With a Master's in Literacy and specialist endorsements in both Reading and English Language Learners, I have had opportunities to work in areas of leadership as an ELL Specialist and Reading Specialist for the past 12 years of my teaching career. Prior to that I worked as a classroom teacher in Elementary and had students of varying needs in my classroom. While I worked as an ELL Specialist, I also provided tutoring services in the areas of Reading and Writing for two students from Kindergarten until 6th grade - both students had ADHD and anxiety. I have always been able to build solid relationships with students and create a plan to help them not only feel successful but be successful.
I have a Master's endorsement in English Language Learners and served as a English Language Learner Specialist for nine years both in Phoenix and in the Omaha area school districts. I have a vast experience with ELL students in a myriad of languages and cultures.
Many of my students I support in Reading and Writing have ADHD and I have worked closely with students who have ADHD since I began teaching 17 years ago. I'm aware of the needed modifications for students with ADHD and adjust my instruction regularly to fit their needs.
My goal is to help students gain learned strategies to use in their daily school work so they find success outside of the lessons we do together. The time we spend working together will be to help learn then apply skills and strategies in their own daily work therefor finding success at school more readily. I look forward to working with new students and building those foundational skills to help them be successful learners." less...
