"Hello, My name is Julie K. I have my Master's for Reading Specialist and have been a teacher in various positions for 20+ years. It is my belief that every child is able to learn and deserves to be treated as an individual. I believe that building a child's confidence in their abilities is essential for their success. I also feel it is very important to create dialogue with parents that will allow them to learn strategies and skills to assist their child as well.

When I begin working with my students, I assess where they are at and develop a learning plan that will incorporate skills and strategies for them to master that will assist them to reach new levels in their learning. The learning plan is fluid and I continually assess and adapt the learning plan to evolve with the child's learning level. I use assessments, strategies, and methods that are researched based and follow The Science of Reading and Writing. Literacy has many layers and levels and it is my role to work with each child as an individual to ensure that they build confidence in their abilities and are able to reach their learning goals.
