I am affiliated with the nationally known associations such as American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA), the Academic Language Therapy Association (ALTA) and the International Dyslexia Association (IDA). These certifications enable me to provide specialized intervention to individuals who have a diagnosis of dyslexia and/or simply struggle with reading, writing, spelling and comprehension

I have over 15 years of experience working with individuals that struggle with communicating effectively through reading(, writing and speaking. I have been trained and certified in the Orton-Gillingham approach, and love using it to help students improve their literacy skills.

This method is neurologically based, as research has proven that multisensory instruction changes the way the brain functions. It is also structured and sequential. It incorporates specific patterns and activities to organize learning. Concepts are taught in a specific order, beginning with the most common and consistent.

Sessions target reading which consists of phonemic awareness, decoding, fluency/comprehension; English spelling rules, patterns and generalizations; and writing (word/sentence order along with grammar).
