"Hi! My name is Eleanor M. I'm a recent graduate from Knox College, where I earned my bachelors degree in Anthropology and Sociology with minors in Creative Writing and Studio Art. As a long time learner, I am interested in sharing the knowledge I have gained over my academic career in a meaningful way which ultimately drew me towards tutoring!
My background in social-science has given me strong interpersonal communication skills, advanced research and essay writing experience, and general academic success expertise. I completed my own senior research last spring and helped to advise a small cohort of other Anthropology students throughout the research and essay writing process.
As a creative writing student, I have a strong foundation in English language, literature, and writing. Through my many writing workshop classes and studio art classes, I not only developed my own writing and visual art skills, but also gained experience critiquing, editing, and aiding in the development of other students' work. I'm experienced in many creative writing genres, as well as argumentative essay writing and literary analysis. I completed AP English Language, AP English Literature , and the ACT (with writing), so am able to tutor high-school students in those areas.
In terms of my visual art experience, I specialize in digital illustration and design, but have a foundation of skills in traditional drawing and painting. I am proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and have experience training others to use those programs for graphic design and illustration.
I believe strongly that all students learn differently, so my approach to teaching others will always centers around their preferred learning style. Having immediate family members with neurodivergencies and learning disabilities has greatly impacted the way I teach others--with patience, empathy, and strategic support. I would love to work with students of all ages and experience levels!" less...
