"Hello! Is your child struggling with the math and science Regents exams? If so, perhaps I can be of help.

I am just getting back into the tutoring scene after being on hiatus for a few years to develop my professional career. I graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2013 (current age: 28) with a degree in Chemical Engineering, and by day, I currently work as an industrial engineer in the Horseheads-Elmira area. I have worked as a private tutor off and on since I was in high school (2005-2009).

While I have taken a full spectrum of math and science courses in the past, I believe my best strength in tutoring is in helping with Regents preparation. Unlike more difficult exams such as the AP, I strongly believe that the Regents are very beatable tests. They’re not filled with trick questions, but rather, test your ability on a very specific set of ideas. As a private tutor, I don’t encourage memorization unless absolutely necessary; for example, your times tables or a formula that won’t be on your reference table. I adjust my tutoring methodology to fit the individual student, and will ask you as many questions as you ask me. Why do you think you got that question wrong? Did you guess? Did you misread what it was asking? Show me how you got there. By breaking down and working on your thought process, I can help you improve on key ideas and develop shortcuts or tricks that are tailored to you.

As I am still refreshing myself on some material, I am limiting the scope of my subjects to those below, but I may add others in the future. Please inquire if you are interested in help with math for job placement exams.
