"I started in the veterinary field back in 2007 when I was attending a pre-veterinary program through my high school. This allowed me to begin working with an equine reproduction veterinarian whom I worked with for a little over a year before starting in an AVMA accredited college program for Veterinary Technology. I attended the State University of New York at Delhi from fall 2008 to spring of 2010. While in attendance I received certification in small animal nutrition and also was in charge of weekend animal care in my second year. The duties involved were to instruct and help first year students tend to the dogs and cats that were housed at the campus when the instructors were not present. Before graduation I was offered a job at a new veterinary clinic, to start once graduated. I passed the VTNE and gained my certification as a veterinary technician. Through the years I worked in small animal practices, emergency medicine and large animal medicine. I love to help students understand materials that can't be learned from reading alone and will spend all the time needed on one subject before moving to the next. Visual and repetitive learning are very important to learning what is needed in school for veterinary technology." less...
