"Hello, I'm Thinh! I graduated Summa Cum Laude in high school, and I am currently a freshman enrolled at the University of Houston pursuing my BS in biochemistry. In high school, I took 8 AP classes and scored between a 4 and 5 on all math and science-related APs. Additionally, in the summer of 2023, I was at a summer camp called Van Houston Academy, where students were placed in classes and taught subjects they would learn during the next school year. Despite going there to get ahead in some of my classes, the owner sought me out to help tutor Chemistry 1.
My first couple weeks in college have shown me that while I may hate the subject, the professors make the class enjoyable. This has given me a new outlook on teaching and shows how if I put forth the effort and make my students enjoy my classes, then they will also end up performing better. Thus, I tend to take a more laid-back approach to teaching and do not force students over the edge with grueling work. Furthermore, I realize that many of the subjects I may teach can also be tough to understand, and thus I need to simplify it down, which not only helps the student but helps me to become a better teacher through a deeper understanding of the subject. This, in turn, creates a more leisurely learning experience and doesn't add too much to the stresses of school.
Since it is my first time doing a real tutoring job, I am always open to suggestions, resources, or advice so that I can create a better learning environment. I am very easy to reach and will try to respond as fast as possible." less...
