"I have been a published journalist and photographer for more than 40 years. I am retired now but the last 15 years of my career I worked as a newspaper editor. I have also written and published two books, have contributed to a half dozen others, and edited some as well.

While I was in college I did tutoring at times and found that rewarding. I worked for 20 years as a youth basketball coach which was a constant tutoring position. As an editor I worked with a number of interns and first year reporters and assisted them with honing their writing skills. It was always rewarding to me to watch a student progress and improve their skills.

English, grammar, vocabulary and proofreading are what writing s all about. As an editor it was my job to make sure the stories written by myself and my reporters were understandable while at the same time told the story at hand.
