"I'm Stacie! I am a Penn State University graduate who started tutoring in college in the university's writing lab. I am a retired elementary school teacher who never stopped loving working with students. My degree is in English Literature with elementary teaching certificates in both Pennsylvania and Indiana. Upon retirement I lived in Cleveland, OH for a short time and also have an Ohio substitute certificate. Moving for my husband's career gave me the opportunity to teach in many different locations.

I have experience in all elementary grades with most of my years spent in first and third grades. In addition to the regular school day, I spent many hours before and after school tutoring for state testing prep and at-risk students. I tutored homebound students and spearheaded both school poetry workshops and school newspapers for fourth and fifth graders.

My specialty is in identifying student needs as well as giving students a boost with their reading and writing skills. I am flexible and can be utilized on a regular basis or as-needed.

I am a tutor who has the experience of teaching for many years in many settings. I know what is expected and hold high individualized standards for all my students.

Language Arts is my expertise with a Bachelor's degree in English Literature. Many students find writing very difficult and I can assist in breaking the process down piece by piece for building writing skills. Having worked in title one schools, reading skills was a part of my daily routine with consistent success in increasing student reading levels.

Fifteen years of teaching guided reading to grades one through four gives me an edge for phonics and reading skills. I love the learning process of phonics and reading and enjoy sharing that joy with my learners.
