"My name is Robert Hostetler! I received my undergraduate degree from Cal Poly, SLO, where I majored in history with a minor in political science and have recently enrolled at SDSU to earn a MA in History. My areas of focus include the Cold War, social movements of the 60s and 70s, Black history, democratic governments and international relations. After I completed my undergraduate work, I became a social science teacher, so I have experience taking complex historical topics and making them easy to understand. With my specialties, I am highly capable of supporting students learning geography, American history (US history), government, and world history.
I began tutoring high school students in 2019 and have been a credentialed Social Science teacher since 2020. I have taught both middle school and high school students online and in the classroom. Although history may not be everyone's favorite subject, I strive to create lessons that display the impact that historical events have had on our modern world. I think the most important part about teaching history is to make it personally engaging by relating it to our society and current events.
