"I am so excited to be your tutor! I have been tutoring and teaching professionally for over 20 years now, mainly to students in the 12 - 18 age range for the ISEE, SSAT, SAT, and ACT. I got my start helping college students while at Fordham with their writing, then in 2002, joined Kaplan, where I tutored for the next 16 years.

My teaching approach is based on truly understanding a student's goals and learning style, then tailoring my curriculum as such to that learning approach and particular needs diagnosed by previous official exams, and ongoing practice exams. I am high-energy and encouraging, and love helping every student of every level. Knowing their particular interests, whether it be sports, art, politics, or whatever, helps me to draw parallels between their passions and how the test operates.

I have seen much success in standardized test prep, including several students who have earned the National Merit Scholarship and gotten perfect section scores in the ACT and SAT. Some of my SAT II: Literature and US History students have also gotten perfect 800's on their exams!

I have lived all over the world, in Spain, Australia, the United Kingdom, and most recently, in New Zealand, from where my wife of 14 years hails. This experience has broadened my understanding and ability to create rapport with students I have taught the world over, including those in South Africa, the United Kingdom, and even the Middle East.

Having 2 children of elementary age has helped me to broaden my teaching skills to include elementary math, reading, and writing. I am excited to help younger children as well.
