"I have helped hundreds of students increase their SAT & ACT scores. Many of my students have obtained 99th percentile scores and then gone to schools such as UCLA, UC Berkeley, Stanford, and Harvard. These results come from 10 years of experience breaking down SAT and ACT problems into simple, easy-to-follow steps. In lessons, I then prompt students with questions to help them understand these steps necessary to solve problems on their own. I also quickly identify weaknesses in test-taking, in areas such as math, critical reading, writing, time management, and process of elimination, and turn these weaknesses into strengths with guided reviews of test questions and practice exercises.
I have worked as an SAT/ACT Instructor independently and for Veritas Prep, Compass Education, Kaplan Education, and tutoring companies in my hometown of Palos Verdes, CA. Over time, I have guided many students through the college admissions process and especially college application essays. I have helped them improve their personal statements to best reflect their most inspiring qualities and achievements. I am also an experienced tutor for the GRE exam and other subjects listed in my profile.
I teach with a strategy-oriented curriculum that is easy for students to learn, remember, and apply. For homework, I assign only official SAT & ACT test questions from previously administered exams. During tutoring, I am personable with students and focus on building their test-taking confidence.
In my free time, I have always enjoyed tutoring, as it is greatly satisfying to help students achieve their goals. When I am not free, I am working toward my PhD in Statistics at UCLA, performing research in natural language processing. Before this, I obtained a Master of Science in Computer Science from UCLA in 2020. I also received a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from UCLA in 2013, after which I attended Hack Reactor, a software engineering bootcamp in San Francisco, CA, and then worked as a Software Engineer in the Bay Area." less...
