"Standardized tests like the SAT and ACT have three components which must be mastered. The first is content knowledge. I am intimately familiar with every concept that appears on both tests, and can explain each of them in a variety of ways to help any student, regardless of aptitude or background.

The second is test structure. Through close analysis of practice questions, my students discover the unwritten rules that govern these tests, empowering them to confidently choose the correct answer even in situations where that choice appears arbitrary. I also teach them to identify the time-saving shortcuts often hidden in the questions' wording or implied by the way the answer choices differ.

Finally, there is a performance component. I have access to an extensive library of practice tests created by the makers of the ACT and SAT. By working through these tests, my students learn exactly what to expect on test day, putting them in the best possible position to succeed.

I welcome students of all ability levels. Former students of mine have gone on to attend top universities such as Stanford, Amherst, Notre Dame, NYU, USC, and UT-Austin. But one of the most rewarding experiences I have had was tutoring a student who had previously taken the ACT four times. After a few lessons, she took the test a fifth time, and achieved the score she needed for a much-needed scholarship at UW-Stevens Point.
