"I would love to help you reach your educational goals! In 2023, I graduated with my degree in environmental science from the University of Maryland. Since then have been working various seasonal science research and communications jobs. I am passionate about ecology and evolutionary biology, and am planning on going to graduate soon to pursue a master’s degree in marine biology at James Cook University.
I have experience as a teaching assistant at the University of Maryland, helping with an introductory ecology course. Now, I can tutor a variety of chemistry and biology topics. I believe it is essential to build a solid foundation in these classes whether you are pre-med or interested in ecology. I am also interested in tutoring high school students in math and science, to help them build a strong foundation for college.
When teaching, I like to make sure that a student fully understands material before moving on, rather than focusing on memorizing as many facts as possible. I believe that to learn a topic, you need to understand it from the ground up, so you can decipher how to solve many different types of problems. So, my sessions will focus on understanding the why behind something, rather than just drilling problems (although that can be helpful as well). I also think it is important to build a positive mindset when learning a subject, and I like to focus on building confidence in a student’s ability to reason through problems.
In addition to math and science, I love the arts. I have a double degree with theatre, and like to sing and play the violin. I also love getting into nature and am working on improving my plant identification skills!" less...
