"Hi! I'm Jen. I love helping students reach the "light bulb moment," where a concept is grasped and their eyes light up with understanding.
I have been tutoring, off and on, since my senior year in high school (about 20 years ago), where I was 3rd in my class. After working as a tutor/lab assistant in college, I graduated summa cum laude with a BS in Chemistry (Biochemistry concentration) from Howard Payne University. The biochem concentration means I have numerous chemistry and biology classes under my degree. After some odd jobs, including scoring standardized tests, I worked in a food testing lab for more than 6 years, first as a chemistry tech, then as the chemistry supervisor. Even while in the lab, my favorite part was training others on the instruments and techniques used. I eventually decided to go back to school and graduated in 2014 from Baylor University with a Masters in Chemistry. While at Baylor, I taught labs, including General Chemistry, Intro to Bio-organic Chemistry (for nutrition majors), Biochemistry, and Physical Biochemistry. I strove to find ways to help the students understand the concepts covered and worked with each student as much as possible.
As a tutor, I can work with you one-on-one and find a way to help you understand the concepts giving you trouble. Let me help you with your science class, and we'll see what we can achieve together!" less...
