"I have been teaching mathematics here in Los Angeles for over 12 years now. I have taught Math Olympiad courses in advanced geometry, algebra, number theory and combinatorics and advanced placement tests like AP Calculus and AP Stats. I have also taught test prep like SAT, ACT, GRE and GMAT Math. During high school, I underwent extensive tutoring to prepare for the SAT IIs where I scored 2400/2400 in mathematics, physics and chemistry. For the GMAT I earned a score of 690/800 with a 91st percentile in mathematics. For my undergrad I did 2 years studying Computer Science engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology where I dealt with many advanced math courses before switching over to Philosophy but minoring in Mathematics.
I have taught at Elite Prep in Arcadia where I taught 1k+ students in SAT math over a period of two years and advanced placement tests for AP Calc AB, BC and AP Stats. A good majority of the SAT students scored over 700+ with many scoring a perfect 800. I have also taught AMC 8, AMC 10 and AMC 12 for the Mathematics Olympiad and Mathcounts for the US Mathematics Competitions at Gateway Valencia. I tutored at University of the West at the Student Success Center (2010 – 2011) teaching Mathematics, English and Computer skills. I have tutored students in Mathematics studying at UCLA, USC, Santa Monica College, ELAC and Mt SAC. I worked as an independent contractor with Academic 1on1 tutoring inner city students as a part of a federal program that was funded by No Child Left Behind and organized by LAUSD and Academic 1on1. I also worked for Bright Academy where I tutored three classes one for PRE SAT, SAT and AP Calc.
As an experienced tutor I pride myself on being able to personalize my teaching approach depending upon the students and environment. I instill in my students the confidence to be able to analyze new materials and work through problems on their own by leading them step by step through problems, valuing their answers, and patiently guiding them to the correct solution." less...
