"Hi I'm Caleb! I'm a senior mathematics and computer science major at Houghton College. I really love math especially. I enjoy helping other people learn and hopefully even learn to enjoy math and see the fun parts of it! I do have some experience teaching others. Since my freshman year I have been a teaching assistant for various classes including, Calculus I and II, Linear Algebra, Discrete Mathematics, and Programming. This job has involved grading homework, running evening help sessions, facilitating group work and answering questions, and even filling in for the professor for a couple classes when he was unavailable.

This summer I also gained experience as a teaching assistant for John Hopkins Center for Talented Youth for a Fundamentals of Computer Science course. I was teaching 7th and 8th grade students which was so fun! This was a cool experience and helped me learn a little more what it's like to construct a lesson and adjust on the fly when students are challenged by a lesson and need some extra help. There's something really exciting about when a student has a lightbulb moment, which is my favorite part about teaching.

I love math and have devoted much of my life over the last 4 years to developing my mathematical skills and understanding. I also have spent a good deal of time over the last few years teaching mathematics to others, whether in the form of an official teaching assistant or just helping out a friend, so I have learned a lot about how to do that as well.
