"I love helping students learn. As a classroom teacher for twelve years in middle and high school, my most rewarding moments were when I could see those light bulbs start lighting up in their brains as my students started to understand the concepts of the subject. It was my goal to present the information in the most interesting and relevant way so that it really made sense to them and when they got, it was there for good. Although my calling is not in the classroom at this time, I still really enjoy tutoring and helping students learn. Working with students is what drew me into the field of teaching in the first place and I've learned that real teaching is often not in the classroom.
I specialize in tutoring middle school science, which includes Earth science and life science. I also specialize in biology for high school and college students. As a senior in college, I served as an English tutor for grammar and writing. I also critiqued graduate students' essays and theses as well while in college and am now working with teaching students English as a second language along with teaching other English skills. Within the last few months, I assisted in editing a book which will be available for purchase this September. My goal for each session is to help the student achieve his or her goals in that particular subject that might provide a challenge.
I have currently tutored students ranging from K5-12th grade in English skills ranging from vocabulary terms, writing skills, and grammar. I have also tutored high school students in biology by helping them to prepare for final exams which included covering concepts not grasped in the classroom. Due to my past experience with teaching AP biology, I am also qualified to work with college students taking biology.
