"Let me introduce myself, my name is Shireen Kenneth but you can call me teacher Sheri. I’m a native English speaker and I would love to learn an additional language like Chinese and Spain. I have a Diploma in Businesses Administration and have a 120 hour TEFL Certification and I’m currently busy with my Diploma in Childhood Development. To promote a successful learning experience and to engage students with course content, course discussion, it is necessary to create a sense of belonging. Students need to feel that they are part of a specific community, their contributions to the course are acknowledged and incorporated and their participation and insights are valued. I like to use the four different learning styles in order to provide options for students to demonstrate their learning through multiple means. “Some students are visual learners, and they need to see what they are learning. Others are auditory learners and need to hear, and then there are the kinesthetic learners. I want to make it easy for students to reach out for one-on-one help. I concluded that individual approach is the key in education. Through open communication and collaboration with parents I want to create the important opportunities for students to develop social, emotional and academic skills.

I love creating new fun ways for kids to grasp and practice. I can turn spelling practice into a game or get kids moving as they learn doubles facts in math. I can use art or music to get kids engaged. I get to be dramatic when reading a story. As a teacher I can positively influence a child’s way of thinking and doing. I love to help students build self-esteem and believe in themselves and their ability to learn.
