"I believe that a teacher's greatest achievement lies in nurturing an enduring love for learning, and fostering a deep understanding of the world that only comes with a comprehensive integration of knowledge. I most enjoy teaching curious and energetic children and young adults, who are eager to explore and open their minds, and I consider it one of my strengths to be able to connect with children, and unlock their inner strength to pursue their passions.
I am currently studying pure mathematics. Previously I co-founded a robotics startup in Silicon Valley and worked on it for 8 years, serving some of the largest tech companies in the world, and helped generating 9 robotics patents.
Before that I did one year of teaching, as a Teaching Fellow of AI and Robotics at Singularity University (a technology education group in Silicon Valley), and as a grad student at Georgia Tech. The group size I worked with ranges from one-on-one to over a hundred.
Subjects I currently focus on:
1. Programming and robotics: Besides starting and managing a robotics company, I have 20+ years of experience in programming, mostly in Python and C++. I am very familiar with education robot kits, such as LEGO Mindstorms.
2. Mathematics: any US K-12 math subject, especially fond of Geometry, Algebra, Calculus; and common college-level math courses: Calculus, Linear Algebra, Real Analysis, Abstract Algebra, etc.
Since I'm a native Chinese speaker, if interested I can mix programming and math with some Chinese lessons.
Note: I am tutoring out of good will and for cutting my daily costs, not for making a living, hence I've set the rate towards the lower end. If you are on a tight budget and you don't need too much time, I'm willing to consider a deeper discount.
Interesting fact: there was a time that I was very uncomfortable with mathematics :)
Education:
Ph.D. Candidate in biomechanics, Georgia Tech (dropped out to start a robotics company);
B.S. in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, from a top-5 university in China" less...
