"Hello! I have been a Public Speaking, Debate, and Forensics teacher for the last three years at a high school in Kansas. While there I tripled the size of the team, had two teams place 3rd at the State Debate Tournament, had multiple finalists at the State Forensics Tournament, and broke the school record for qualifiers to the National Speech and Debate tournament (including one semifinalist!) Prior to my time as a head coach, I had worked as an assistant Debate and Forensics coach for four years, also on the high school level in Kansas. I assisted the team while also working towards a degree in History Education and a degree in Political Science at Sterling College. I competed on the college debate and forensics team as well, placing third in the nation in IPDA debate and making it to the semifinals of the American Forensics Association National Tournament in Extemporaneous Speaking and After Dinner Speaking.
While in college, I also worked for U.S. Senator in Washington DC as an intern. I have a huge love for politics and I have seen the inner-workings of our political system up close and in person. I have also worked on several campaigns for office including for a gubernatorial candidate and a state senate candidate. Simultaneously, I worked as a tutor for our college library and assisted students primarily in English and History classes. This consisted of editing research papers, helping with book reports, and analyzing poetry to explain similarities between the writer’s work and the real world. I also helped two students in a Political Science course in writing a paper that compared various forms of government with the United States.
I hope to have the opportunity to tutor you soon!" less...
