"In diverse situations over eight years of professional tutoring experience, I have created motivating learning environments and I am grateful to share that I am well-liked by students. As a tutor, I have served students ranging from pre-kindergarten to adult ages, in group and one-on-one settings, both in-person and online. My teaching formation, consisting of 45 graduate coursework units and 550+ teaching hours in elementary classrooms, enriches my tutoring capabilities. I have devoted myself to a full-time career in tutoring, including developing curriculum and lesson plans alongside homeschooling families. I not only curate but also enjoy creating effective resources that address individual education needs. I am privileged to have facilitated outstanding improvement for students experiencing learning difficulties, particularly in the domains of elementary math and reading development. Realizing that each student’s success and well-being must be our top priority, I welcome close communication with parents and educators.
When tutoring math, I employ hands-on techniques to render all kinds of math concepts accessible. Commonly, students I have tutored in math for even a short period of time experience major improvement in standardized test scores. I use an Orton-Gillinham based approach in assessing and assisting struggling readers, leaving nothing to chance in their reading development by targeting subtle issues that often affect reading on a foundational level. In tutoring writing, I guide my student to the satisfaction of publishing a piece of work by taking it through the writing process, all at an accessible level, from the pre-writing stage to the nuances of the written word. I favor an explicit style when tutoring spelling, helping students think critically about spelling patterns: i.e. Why is”carrot” spelled with “c” rather than “k”?
