"Foremost, I am a husband and the father of a nineteen-year-old college Junior. I am fifty-six and live a stone’s throw from Lake Erie near Buffalo, NY.

I am a semi-retired software/database developer and formerly the owner of a small (about ten employees) software development firm. In addition to writing software, I have worked as a meat cutter, salesman, MIS director, and professional musician.

With over twenty years of experience as a software developer, my primary core competency is database design, SQL, and Microsoft TSQL development. As a result, I can provide instruction and expert advice on the following: SQL Statements, Table Design, Joins, Indexes, Constraints, Referential Integrity, Triggers, Stored Procedures, Cursors, using Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, and much more.

Additionally, my experience includes extensive use of VB.Net. Visual Basic is my go-to choice of development languages. And I have worked with the .Net framework since it was first released over twenty years ago. So, I can help beginning students master the basics through advanced users who want to expand their skills.

Finally, while I no longer maintain the certification, I was a QuickBooks Pro Advisor for many years. I have helped numerous businesses implement and customize QB installations. And I frequently train office staff in the concepts of double-entry bookkeeping and using QuickBooks for daily accounting tasks.

I am a teacher and a trainer by nature. A substantial portion of my career included training fresh out of college programmers, teaching end-users how to use custom software solutions, and QuickBooks consulting. So, I have the communication skills, enthusiasm for teaching, and patience needed by a successful tutor.

I look forward to passing along some of the expertise (and hopefully wisdom) that I have accumulated throughout my career." less...
