"I have worked with many students and I am passionate about connecting with learners and helping them get through difficult material.
As an undergraduate, I studied Philosophy at the University of Central Florida (BA, 2013, GPA: 3.8). During this time, I was a teaching assistant in the Philosophy department which developed my ability to explain complex material to students.
As a philosophy student, I studied logic and language which got me interested in computers. As a graduate student, I studied Computer Science at Brooklyn College (MA, 2017, GPA: 3.9) and received the Jack Wolfe Memorial Fellowship in Computer Science. I also worked as an educator with students of varying ages and nationalities, many of whom spoke English as a second language.
At first, I worked as a tutor in Brooklyn College's Learning Center where I helped students struggling with material in C++ and Unix. Eventually, I was also hired as an Adjunct Lecturer to teach a course on software design in Java.
In addition to working with students, I also have ten years of experience working as a Software Engineer.
Early in my career, I developed content management tools in Java at a company called Turing's Craft which focused on web-based educational software for Computer Science classrooms. This helped develop my understanding of how to write code professionally and in a team setting, as well as providing me with new insights into how students learn to code.
Later on, my career moved away from the classroom and towards embedded systems. I worked on LoRa-based radio protocols for geospatial software written in Rust. Recently, I have decided to begin working with students again and have started developing online courses in Computer Science with the University of Maine at Presque Isle.
While I am most well-equipped to tutor students in Computer Science and software engineering, I would also be open to tutoring students in related subjects — e.g., Math, Logic, Philosophy.
Send me a message if you think I can help you!" less...
