"I'd describe myself as 90% self-taught. I started programming at the age of 13 and haven't looked back since. I have a primary focus on Web Development, but my formal education (partial college + coding school) specialized in C and C++.
While attending University I tutored other students in C++ programming and general Computer Science with great success! I love to use analogies to connect confusing programming topics to things the student already knows. I also give students a chance to explain it back to me in a way that makes sense to them because being able to teach something is an amazing way to strengthen your understanding of the topic.
Professionally, I started out in the Game Development Industry with an internship. I transitioned into an I.T role where I focused on developing internal Software tools to use for all departments at the company. Most recently, I got back into the Game Development industry for Browser-based HTML5 Games. Additionally, I've worked on countless freelance projects in between jobs.
I find that being self-taught is a huge strength in teaching others as I've had to find creative ways to learn topics in programming, and complete major projects as I worked my way through my career." less...
