"Hi there! My name is Deeya, and I tutor in French and Spanish. I'm a current college student, and I'm fluent in both languages. Languages have opened so many doors in my life and, in my opinion, they're undervalued skills in today's world. I'm passionate about helping others open those doors in their lives as well. This past spring, I passed my C2 French exam per the European Language Standards, certifying me as completely bilingual. Throughout high school, I was an honors student and have experience in both IB Spanish (SL and HL) as well as IB French SL 1.
I began learning Spanish at age 3 and French at age 5. So, after more than a decade of study and practice of these languages, I'm able to teach the academic/grammatical rules, as well as the cultural, everyday uses. Additionally, as English is my first language, I am able to teach French and Spanish in ways that make sense to other native English speakers. My lessons are tailored around what students need to supplement their knowledge, and I provide examples and explain the concepts behind them to reinforce it. Students have ample opportunities to ask questions because I believe that inquiry is an important aspect of the learning process. I also think feedback from each student is essential; every student has a different learning style, so knowing what works best for them is key.
