"Hello. I am a native Spanish-language speaker with extensive experience in grammar, proofreading, vocabulary, conversational Spanish and English, and Economics.
I speak, read, and write in English and Spanish regularly at a high level. Therefore, I consider myself to be equally proficient in both languages.
During my college years, I tutored Economics and also tested to comply with the foreign language requirement in Spanish. I completed the test in record time while receiving one of the highest scores ever recorded to date (85 out of 87 correct responses or 97.7%). I earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Economics and minored in Psychology and English.
I served as a Graduate Research/Teaching Assistant for a Quantitative Methods class while working on my Master of Arts in Applied Economics (M.A.A.E.) degree. I held office hours to assist students and helped with exam preparation while earning my graduate degree.
Since 1998, I have been a successful volunteer soccer coach (ages 9 to 18). Over the years, I have conducted regular weekly practices and coached over 150 soccer matches.
Since 2010, I have been the facilitator of an intermediate-level, Spanish-language group. I prepare all the materials, regularly use visual aids (dry-erase boards and handouts), and engage in constant repetition when presenting the class material. In addition, I stress the use of proper grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation.
My tutoring style begins with identifying the client's needs and his/her learning style. From there, I compile the necessary materials and proceed at the appropriate learning pace. I feel that it is important to recognize that there are different learning styles and needs. I believe in a patient, high-standard approach that relies on active listening and effective communication to maximize the benefits of the student-tutor relationship.
Thank you for your time and I look forward to meeting your academic and learning needs." less...
