"My love for teaching began at a very young age. I come from a family of educators--my mother as well as her four sisters are all retired teachers. Growing up, I loved school and I was straight-A student. While I was in high school, my youngest sister, 5, and in Kindergarten at the time, was having major difficulties learning to read. After speaking with her teacher and learning about her struggles in this area, I took it upon myself to work with her every afternoon until she was not only up to speed, but ahead of her class and had become a very confident, and fluent reader. Seeing her transformation-- going from a struggling reader, to a confident, fluent reader was such a rewarding experience that it just served to confirm my passion for teaching and helping students succeed at learning.
I hold a bachelor's degree in Social Science with Education concentration and a Minor in Psychology, as well as an associate's degree in Computer Science. I have been an elementary school teacher overseas and I am fully bilingual (Spanish/English). Most recently, I have obtained a Texas probationary teaching certificate that qualifies me to teach Spanish from EC-12, Technology Applications EC-12, and Elementary Bilingual Generalist EC-6. I have also passed the 154-ESL Supplemental Exam and have earned the ESL teaching endorsement.
I have taught Spanish at Dekaney High School in Spring, TX for the 2015-16 school year, as well as being a substitute teacher in Conroe and Tomball ISD from 2013-2015.
I have earned the ESL teaching endorsement within my teaching certification, and I am a former ESL student and fully understand, form first hand experience, the intricacies of second language learning. I am native Spanish speaker. I have worked with textbooks such as: ¡En español!, Buen Viaje, etc. And I possess a working knowledge of the Spanish Language Scope and Sequence.
I love and enjoy working with students of all ages and teaching is my passion. I consider it a privilege to have the opportunity to tutor and mento" less...
