"I am a Special Education Teacher in NYC public school system. I have taught in Brooklyn, NY and have had an opportunity to teach a diverse group of children from all backgrounds. My experience includes teaching in integrated co-teaching classes with a general education teacher, and grades 1-6. Subjects taught include writing; math; social studies, and social-emotional learning. I am accustomed to using technology to further enhance teaching effectiveness, and during the years of the pandemic when most NYC public school teachers and children taught and learned from the comfort of their own homes, I came to school in person each day and taught students both in class AND online. This capability to reach a wide audience enhance my effectiveness of teaching.

I came into the teaching profession through completing a fellowship program that fast-tracked professionals in other industries into teaching. As a student with a speech impediment, I was in special education and know the struggle students with disabilities encounter on a daily basis. I worked hard throughout my school career to eventually earn a Master's degree from Brooklyn College in Special Education Grades 1-6.

My strategies involve utilizing graphic organizers, finding key information, and highlighting strategies to eliminate unnecessary answers. I believe all children can learn and are capable of learning in their own unique ways. I have taught summer school in smaller settings (12 students, 1 paraprofessional and a teacher) and have learned management techniques to keep classes moving in a positive, ready-to-learn environment.
