"Karibu! I'm a native Nebraskan, with a global perspective of over ten years in international education. I currently teach at an IB international school in Germany, and hold a current Masters teaching certificate in Iowa. I graduated from Northwestern College, cum laude, with a B.A. in English Education and from UNK with a Masters of English with specialization in the teaching of Writing/Composition/Rhetoric. I've taught in Madagascar, Indonesia, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, South Africa, the Czech Republic and Seattle. My writing has won awards (Best Humanities Thesis at the university, a graduate assistantship) and I've published several journals and academic book reviews.

My classroom experience includes teaching English grades 6-12+, coaching students through the college essay writing process, ACT/SAT Prep, instruction in AP Lit and AP Language, and college writing/composition at University of Nebraska-Kearney. I have experience with IB English curriculum and assessments included the Personal Project, Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge Essay, English B, and English Language and Literature. My students have gone on to Princeton, MITT, Yale, Brown, Stanford, and Cornell.

Learning should be fun and interesting, even if the topic isn't a student's favorite. I believe learning should be practical, so I do my best to structure lessons to be transferable to other subjects. My teaching style is to challenge students while coming alongside them to grow in an encouraging way. I try to bring the combination of appropriate challenge and encouragement into my tutoring.
