"As an undergraduate in psychology, I interned at Eden Autism School where I worked with students between ages 10-12 individually and during group activities. My experience at Eden taught me skills that promote success as an educator including patience, enthusiasm, and creativity. Psychology courses such as developmental psychology prepared me to be an educator that is aware of each student's unique needs. I am a current graduate student of communicative sciences and disorders at NYU and a future speech-language pathologist. My goal is to combine my psychology background with communicative science to help atypical children develop socially fulfilled lifestyles. After I graduate from NYU, I plan to work in an elementary school setting as a speech pathologist.
I love the impact that a tutor can have on a student. A tutor should be someone who is caring, patient, dependable, and unafraid to try new teaching styles. I have overcome many academic challenges myself and those experiences taught me that children are capable of achieving anything they work hard for. As a current graduate student who struggled with academics as a child, I want to be the tutor that I wish I had, and make an impact on their confidence in the classroom. I hope to inspire children to reach their fullest potential.
The courses I've taken thus far as a graduate student have provided me with complex linguistic knowledge about linguistic developmental deficits. As an undergraduate, my writing was praised by professors, including a 100% on my senior capstone paper. I am confident that I can help students achieve their writing goals.
