"Hi there! My name is Claire and I am excited to be your tutor in the subjects of Math, Reading, and English. I have a B.A. from Stanford University in Science, Technology, and Society. I recently graduated with my MBA from Columbia Business School, and I am available through July 2023 as a summer tutor. I have completed over 200 volunteer hours at a Children's hospital. This experience helped me learn how to help children ages 5-16 facing various challenges.

My math background is extensive. I competed in math competitions throughout secondary school, and this helped me learn how to break down problems into smaller parts for other students on my math team. I like to start math lessons off with a series of fun practice problems to identify where you are having issues. I come prepared with practice problems that will help you master the concepts that you are struggling with at the start of the lesson. At the end of each lesson I provide materials that you can work on in between our next lesson that will supplement your learning.

My Reading/English background is also strong, and I completed 2 intensive writing courses at Stanford through the Program in Writing and Rhetoric. In these courses I was able to learn foundational writing skills that I enjoy sharing with my students. I had the opportunity to review and provide feedback on the writing of other Stanford students. This experience helped me learn how to provide constructive feedback to you as a student. I integrate reading, writing, and vocabulary into my lessons. I try to build up your vocabulary by using challenging reading passages to teach you important concepts.

My lesson plans are tailored to students ranging from 1st-5th grade. I prefer to work with students one on one via zoom. I encourage parents to follow up with me after tutoring sessions to provide feedback on how I can improve future lessons. Please reach out with questions!" less...
