"My goal: My goal as a certified English teacher is to empower students to craft compelling college applications that represent their authentic voice and story. With a decade of experience as a certified high school English teacher, I am committed to guiding students through the complexities of the admissions process, fostering their confidence and creativity. I strive to make the college application a positive and successful journey for each of my students.
About me: I studied English at Middlebury College and graduated magna cum laude with an honors thesis, also serving as captain of the women's soccer team. I earned my master's in teaching from Stanford in 2014, and have taught high school English for 10 years, primarily in Chicago. I have experience teaching 9th-12th grade English at all levels (co-taught, gen-ed, honors, AP), and I specialize in helping students craft clear, authentic, compelling college essays, application management, writing skills, and reading comprehension.
My approach:
First, I believe in personalized guidance: each student's journey is unique, so I tailor my approach to fit individual needs. Drawing on 10 years of teaching experience, I leverage my expert insight to guide students from brainstorming and outlining to drafting and polishing, Second, I prioritize constructive feedback: I provide detailed, actionable feedback on each draft, on both content and form, to ensure student writing is polished, coherent, and impactful. Lastly, I offer holistic support throughout the college application process: this can include personal statements, supplemental essays, resume/extracurricular lists, interview prep, and deadline management." less...
