"Hello, students! I'm John. I hold a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and have taught at the undergraduate and graduate level for 7 years. I also worked for many years as a learning and behavior consultant for individuals with neurocognitive and neurobiological disorders. I'm a research nerd who enjoys helping students to approach statistics, research methods and design, and dissertation/thesis work - content areas that many students shy away from. Never fear! I have a knack for simplifying complex concepts in a way that allows students to grasp and apply them. I am also qualified, by virtue of my degree, to serve as a tutor for students taking psychology courses!
When you choose to work with me, I will carefully assess your needs and preferred mode of learning. I like to help students to build skills through scaffolded practice opportunities, emphasizing "good practice" (as opposed to repetition for repetition's sake). If you happen to be a student approaching dissertation work, I can support you from choice of method(s) to every element of design. I am well-versed in quantitative research, qualitative research, mixed methods research, the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS), Atlas.ti, APA formatting, and writing for research.
I am happy to speak with you and thank you for your interest. I am here to help!
Sincerely,
John" less...
