"I recently graduated from Cornell University with a Ph.D. in molecular biophysics, and have loved teaching science and math since I began tutoring my classmates when I was in high school. I find that everyone is capable of learning even the most complex subjects, when the teacher is able to connect and communicate effectively with each student as an individual. Empowering students in this way is one of the most rewarding experiences. I have served as a teaching assistant for undergraduate and graduate level classes in molecular biology and genetics, worked at Kumon Math and Reading Learning Center, and as a personal tutor for the past several years.
I offer college, graduate school, and fellowship application review/counseling as well. My experience in successful applications to Princeton University and Cornell University, competitive fellowships such as the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program (NSF-GRFP) and Cornell's Deans' Excellence fellowship, have shown me the power of persuasive writing in application preparation. I can help students express their strengths relative to the values of the institutions they are applying to, and balance self-promotion with humility in discussing what they offer as a potential member of an academic community and what they hope to gain from admission. I have helped both high school and undergraduate mentees in their application process, and I look forward to helping others here on Wyzant.
I am able to teach all high school math and science courses; undergraduate math through multivariate calculus and differential equations; general, inorganic, and organic chemistry; and most biology courses including biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology core courses, evolutionary biology, and anatomy and physiology as well. I am happy to teach standardized test materials for the GED and ACT Math and ACT Science." less...
