"I have a great deal of writing experience in many different forums, including sports writer who covered the Boston Red Sox on a daily basis for 22 years for the Providence (RI) Journal newspaper; award-winning children's author, and writing professor at Bryant (RI) University in addition to 35 years visiting classrooms to conduct interactive and collaborative writing workshops as Nudging the Imagination. I also run a nonprofit organization (Rhode Island Write on Sports) that conducts summer sports writing camps for under-served middle school students.

It gives me great satisfaction to work with students of all ages on their writing skills, offering suggestions for improving their work while also offering options for communicating ideas through the written word and taking the stress from the process. To me, the process of writing is relatively simple, boiling down to idea to angle to research to write/revise and write/revise/edit. Writing is not formulaic, so I enjoy helping students find their voice and become effective writers.

As an award-winning children's author, and as someone who has been visiting classrooms for more than 35 years helping students use their imaginations and improve their writing skills, my experience and my engaging personality allow me to connect with elementary students.

I am blessed with a personality that enables me to establish a good rapport with students personally, which helps me impart my suggestions and strategies that are helpful to students interested in improving their writing skills with a minimum of stress.
