"I have been tutoring for over a decade, because I love the problem solving process not only helping you understand your material, but also the process of helping untangle you from the obstacles from your success. Unlike many tutors who focus on subject matter expertise, my focus is on finding better ways to link your understanding to your instructor’s expert presentation. Bluntly, your instructors are usually experts in their fields, so if subject matter expertise could solve your problems, you probably wouldn’t be searching for a tutor. My legal training (J.D., University of Wisconsin, cum laude) and experience focuses on finding ways to explain complicated material so that you can understand it and then relay it back as necessary for exams, assignments, or personal use. I tutor by working through problems together with my students because the areas I teach are primarily learn-by-doing, especially when students find themselves in need of help.

My undergraduate (B.S., Philosophy & Economics, University of Wisconsin, cum laude), legal, and tutoring experience is focused on number-crunching, organizing information, and writing about numbers and information. As a result, I have 20+ years of experience on analyzing numerical and factual information for economics, business, finance, and accounting, and how to organize that material into coherent whole. My last ten years of tutoring has kept me current on developments in how that material is presented in the classroom and how it is used in the real world, which has enabled my students to not only complete their coursework, but understand how that work will be used professionally.

I hope I can be of service, so please feel free to contact me if you have additional questions or would like to schedule a first session. Thank you for the opportunity." less...
