"I have a broad scope of skills as a neuroscientist and global educator in the case method. I have a BS magna cum laude in biological sciences and MS PhD in neuroscience. As NIH principal investigator I directed the laboratory for cellular and molecular neuroscience at Harvard while leading a path to innovation in teaching and learning in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. My goal is for students to achieve academic success in ways I have seen my students never forget.

I have been honored with numerous teaching awards, four Joseph R Levenson Faculty Prize nominations, awards for excellence in mentoring, international awards for outstanding educational technology, Harvard Provost awards, and five Thomas Temple Hoopes Prizes.

I developed the interactive case-based online network (ICON) that empowers learners to virtually immerse themselves into any case setting to interact in a real time problem solving situation. I brought together teams of faculties and students from schools at Harvard, MIT, and affiliated hospitals. I recruited experts including Nobel laureates, actor and quadriplegic Christopher Reeve, filmmaker Michael Crichton, author and screenwriter Alan Alda, and others to take on the roles of the characters in the cases using ICON where learners communicate with the case characters.

I excel in a tutorial collaborative environment, building partnerships of practice with my students through communication, cooperation, and feedback. I have expertise in the case method, e-learning, publishing, NIH advisory panels, communities of lifelong learning, cases with unaccompanied minors and public health teams at the US-Mexico border, case studies at Phillips Exeter and Phillips Andover, and collaborations with peer schools nationally and in 7 foreign countries.
