"With over 15 years of math tutoring experience, I'm ready to provide one-on-one coaching to help your child pull ahead of their peers, prepare for a test or competition, or cultivate the joy of open-ended mathematical exploration. I believe in child-led, inquiry-based learning: teaching is about helping students ask the right questions and arming them with the tools for the job, not about handing them the answers.
I've previously taught with, and developed curriculum for, the Art of Problem Solving (AoPS) and the Russian School of Mathematics (RSM). I have experience preparing students for the SAT, ACT, APs, and various regional standardized tests, as well as competitions including Mathcounts, AMC8, AMC10, AMC12, AIME, and ARML. I have a degree in math from UT Austin, and studied Hungarian math coaching techniques from some of the best in the world.
I love teaching all ages K-12, whether I'm setting out with a kindergartener on their first mathematical explorations or giving a high schooler a head start on some college-level mathematics. I have extensive experience working with gifted, special-needs, and twice-exceptional students, and I'll be happy to talk to you about what learning environment makes most sense for your student with ADHD, dyslexia, dyscalculia, math anxiety, or other learning challenges. I'm always happy to create a supportive environment for LGBTQ+ students, where they can feel comfortable and focus on their learning.
Outside of sessions, I'm available to chat with you about your student's progress, answer questions by text or email, and coordinate with the rest of your student's learning team. I maintain a library of fun and interesting math materials, so I've always got something to hand if a student needs more practice, a different approach, or just something new to explore." less...
