"If you've had boring science teachers which may have been barriers to your learning, then you've come to the right place! I've been teaching science since 2000! After graduating from UMBC, I worked for ACS in the Financial District, the American Lung Association in Brooklyn Heights, and then Mount Sinai School of Medicine as an Assistant Researcher for the NIH Inner City Asthma Study working with asthmatic children aged 5-11years old. Since I chose to not go to medical school, I decided to share my love for science by teaching highschool students Chemistry, Living Environment, Ecology, and Environmental Science. For the last 15-20 years, I balanced a successful real estate career with teaching students all over NYC. My past schools that I taught at were Berkeley Carroll private school, both Bishop Loughlin Catholic Highschool and Benjamin Banneker Academy in Fort Greene/Clinton Hill, ROADS/AIM Charter Highschool, and a host of other charter schools throughout the city. Currently, I teach at a super small highschool in Battery Park with over 50% of the student population having IEPs. So, I am able to successfully reach children with a variety of learning challenges and have them pass the regents exams with ease. I am a union teacher with the UFT so I have had background checks and fingerprinting. I value student-centered learning through guiding students through the science curriculum in a conversational approach and through virtual learning games and simulations. I incorporate higher level questioning techniques such as Blooms Taxonomy. Learning science has never been more fun! I'm ready when you are!" less...
