"I guide writers through the development of their work — from academic writing to fiction, from application essays and test essays to plays. I have a sub-specialty in working with individuals with disabilities, including executive functioning disorders (such as ADHD), learning disabilities, and anxiety disorders; my unique coaching system supports all writers of all ages and skill levels, from high school students to doctoral candidates, by focusing on the individual's specific writing process. I conduct in-person coaching sessions in the greater Syracuse area; for those farther-flung, I am happy to arrange sessions via phone or Skype.
I received my master's in education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education in 2010, and since then I have worked as a writing coach in various capacities, with a focus on supporting students with disabilities. I have been in residence at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and with the Boston Teacher Residency, providing writing coaching to students in both programs, and for many years I conducted a private business as a writing coach based primarily in Boston and Cambridge. I'm currently anchored in Syracuse, NY, but happily conduct online coaching sessions.
As a practicing writer myself, I understand how intense and personal the writing process can be, and how much is at stake for writers. I am also a merciless taskmaster who can introduce structure into a process that may seem oppressively difficult. I am eager to provide structure, scaffolding, and support for the way you write." less...
