"My background is varied from math and business statistics to art, history, and sports. I played Div III basketball and volleyball and have coached all levels and ages. I studied History and Visual Culture which gave me a broad education in many topics. I also studied welding technology and worked in the metal fabrication world building large scale public art. From there I became a business professional and people manager learning business analysis and strategy.
In 2020, I went back to school and am finishing my JD and MBA. This taught me lessons I wish I had learned in middle school about writing and communication. I support the middle school and high school mock trials at the Ventura Courthouse and am dedicated to youth legal and critical thinking education. Also during 2020-2021 I supported my nephew's 6th and 7th grade education. We went on a journey around the world using the Khan Academy's world history program. Now that he is almost a senior in high school, I would love to support anyone through that stage in life and would encourage their parents to join the fun, to learn about the world through the eyes of the best historians. We also studied world geography and learned about food, music, language, commerce, nature, and people all over the world. I also love to help anyone struggling to learn how interesting history can be and ways of remembering the information if your learning style is different than how the content is being presented in class.
I have strong math, excel, and statistics skills. It is another powerful form of communication that I feel everyone can learn given the needed pace and presentation. I do not have a formal teaching degree, but have coached and trained employees to become leaders and gain skills over many years. I also struggle with my own unique learning style and have found the confidence and patience to not let it hold me back. I want teaching and tutoring to always be a part of my career in the future whether or not I am pursuing another full time path." less...
