Prior to California, I lived in Thailand for 3 1/2 years and taught English at a government high school. It was a life changing experience and the Thai people taught me so much on living a better life through their tenacity, generosity and kindness. The food is also incredible! Since my return to the states in 2016 I've worked in a variety of ESL roles such as a test-prep instructor for a summer ESL academy, a family literacy program for immigrants and volunteer taught for Burma refugees.
Cultural sensitivity, personalized learning programs, innovative educational techniques and advocating for my students are some highlights of my working style. Teaching while living in the USA and Thailand has given me a large range of opportunities to work with people of different backgrounds. By teaching students in a wide range of ages and situations, I have honed my communication, creativity, and motivational skills. My passion for fostering collaborative and engaging educational environments has successfully encouraged and developed productive, thoughtful, and accomplished students.
I love teaching because knowing I am helping bring value to a subject or learning is really special to me. When I work with a student/client I want them to have an experience and not just learn in a boring teacher/student setting. I like to make lessons interesting, useful, thoughtful and fun!
