"Update: I'm now mostly "retired" from tutoring, after 11 years of tutoring.
I'm a tutor-mentor for PSAT, SAT and ACT students, and college applicants.
I'm a third year law student and college scholarship reviewer who tutors as a more meaningful alternative to my typical law and policy work. In high school, I was a National Merit Scholar, Valedictorian, accepted into multiple ivy league universities, and recipient of over $1M in merit-based scholarship offers.
I strive to help my students master each subject, set high standards for themselves, improve study skills, increase efficiency and time management, gain intellectual curiosity about each subject within the context of the broader world they live in, and be cognizant of issues in their social or extracurricular lives that interfere with their achievement. In doing so, I'm happy to collaborate with their teachers and families as a team.
Efficiency is key to my service. Students today have difficulty juggling their activities, schoolwork, social lives, and sports, while largely ignoring their sleep and nutritional needs. These students don't need extra busy work; they need more strategically-assigned work and tailored help that lets them learn optimally in the limited time they have. I've found that these students genuinely appreciate and enjoy the time-saving tips and strategic study methods that help them truly learn (never merely memorize) efficiently.
As a tutor, I become part of the team of adults responsible for your child's academic success. My philosophy is that when a student is not motivated or is not learning to their potential, we (the adults) must be accountable. It's our duty to provide these students with the resources and guidance they need. We keep trying until something works." less...
