"Howdy! My name is Joel and I’m a Texas A&M University aerospace engineering (BS and Ph.D.) graduate. At Texas A&M, I worked as a 1-on-1 tutor for freshman students in the science department who were on academic probation. Afterwards, I worked for a year as a Calculus III help-session leader where I reviewed concepts and provided homework help to students enrolled in the course. I have also tutored introductory physics (mechanics and electricity and magnetism). I have taught mainly first and second year undergraduate students, but am able to tutor high-school calculus and lower-level maths subjects (algebra/precalculus).

Mathematics and physics courses are challenging with the difficulty in understanding the topics exponentially increasing with poor instruction. Because the subjects build off of each other (especially in math), it is easy to fall behind and feel lost. My philosophy for tutoring is simple: be patient and understanding. Some topics are easier to understand by some students, while some may be challenging. Regardless of how one is doing in a class, my goal as a tutor is to help with both succeeding academically while as understanding the concepts, not just memorizing.
