"I have taught English, composition, reading, and literature for more than 30 years to students from grades 2 through adult. I received a teaching certification in English from UNC Asheville and a Master of Arts of Liberal Arts from St. John's College in Santa Fe. In addition to my career teaching English, Latin, Greek, and music to grades 4-12, I have also taught ESL, adult literacy classes, GED college, and college composition classes. I have worked in a college writing center, and I have helped students with theses and college application essays. I have done some SAT test prep as well. I can help struggling readers and writers as well as those who want to take their writing skills from proficient to excellent.

Among the skills I help students improve are literal and inferential level reading, composing paragraphs and essays, summarizing texts, editing skills, understanding literature and poetry, practicing grammar, SAT and ACT test prep, and creative writing.
