"After having taught in higher education for 19 years and after having taught English in secondary education for 3 years, I have a lot of experience teaching grammar and composition. For my masters degree at Northern Michigan University, I focused my studies on writing. For my pinnacle project, I wrote a book about a local miner's family from Calumet, Michigan. For my doctoral studies, I conducted an experiment in higher education with adult learners, testing the students to see if sentence diagramming made a difference in their understanding of grammar and its application in writing. I enjoy making the study of grammar a fun experience--we all need grammar skills, like it or not!
I am at the point in life that I would enjoy tutoring mostly online because of our remote location on a farm in northern Wisconsin. I am gratified when I can help someone to improve in their writing skills and understanding of the basics of grammar. Besides my love of grammar, I enjoy working on our farm with my husband, Dave. We have many projects around the farm to keep things going. It's a great life.
I have had 19 years of teaching English on the higher educational level; 3 years of teaching English in high school; and 1 year experience teaching remedial reading. I have taught such courses as Fundamentals of Composition, Composition and Research, Critical Writing, Creative Writing, Advanced Grammar, and Research Writing.
May I help you to be a better writer, more confident in using proper grammar? I'd love to help." less...
