"I'm a retired teacher and psychologist. I taught elementary school children in all subject areas from 1991-2007. I had elementary school (K-6) certification in Colorado from 1991-2009, as well as elementary school counselor certification from 2002-2007.

I got into teaching elementary school kids halfway through my professional career as a psychologist because I worked so much with kids and the schools and realized that this would be a fun departure.

I taught first and second graders and then fifth graders, while doing therapy with families and kids in the evenings. I cut back on my teaching hours in the late 1990's when my wife developed cancer (She's fine and healthy now), and I got into teaching online courses with AOL.

When they closed their online class section, I tutored for them for a few years until that, too, was phased out. After that, I taught GED courses online, while going back to full-time teaching. That was also very rewarding.

I retired from teaching in 2007 and tutored on the side while decreasing my client load in my private practice. Now I am fully retired and enjoy tutoring online or in person locally. I really love when a student who has struggled with a concept or skill suddenly "gets it." That is so exciting! I enjoyed experiencing that with my own daughter, and the joy of shared learning never gets old.
