"Let me introduce myself. My name is Ms. Stacy and I am a former public school teacher. I started teaching in a large school in Central Texas as an English Language Arts teacher. I enjoyed my time there and learned more about diverse learning styles that helped me understand myself and my students. Typically, my classroom size ranged from 27 to 33 students per class. One of the drawbacks to such large classes was the inability to reach all students. My teaching style at this time was broad and inclusive to cover as many students as possible.
It wasn't until I moved to East Texas that I really began to understand my role as a teacher. I taught first in a private school in Texarkana. There were 11 students in my class. It was quite a change, but a much needed one. I learned more about student personalities and learned to reach each one where they were. I went back to a public school setting the next year, where my classes were 15 to 18 students. I could still diversify my teaching style to reach my students, but had more of a challenge with more. I left teaching to homeschool my two younger children, the youngest which is special needs. This was by far my favorite teaching experience and the most challenging. I supplemented my income with tutoring privately to keep up with public school standards. My desire is to make you the best student you can be, to help you have success in your goals, and to leave you with a sense of accomplishment. I am merely the teacher. It is my job to help you.
