"I enjoy working with individual students and helping them with material that can sometimes seem less than exciting. The best reward is seeing the 'aha' moment when they understand the logic behind the material, rather than just memorizing steps. As a graduate student, I was awarded a 'teaching fellowship' for teaching excellence. I believe that my experience since then has only made me a better teacher.
I bring a combination of graduate-level education in math and economics and real-world work experience in both fields. I have experience teaching in the classroom for over ten years, but enjoy working with individual students more. I have recently completed a statistics book, 'Help Me Learn Statistics.'
Just as I would prepare before going into a classroom to teach, I like to go into our tutoring sessions well prepared. I may ask for sample problems for me to review before we meet.
I am now offering small group sessions at over a 40% discount off my regular fee. They are available evenings and weekends, have a maximum of 6 students in each session, and last for 3 hours. Each session consists of lecture mixed with time for Q&A. These are designed for current students and those who need review as a prerequisite for another course. The following sessions are now available. Let me know if you would like more information or would be interested in a similar session for another subject I teach.
Session 1 - Hypotheses Regarding the Mean
The first session includes descriptive statistics, writing hypotheses regarding means, and testing those hypotheses using the normal distribution and Student's T distribution.
Session 2 - ANOVA
Session 3 - Linear Regression
Session 4 - Chi-Squared Tests for Goodness of Fit and Independence
The fourth session includes the test for goodness of fit to a given distribution and the test for independence of two categorical variables.
Session 5 - Tests of Hypothesis Regarding the Correlation, Variance, and Percentiles" less...
